ORLANDO, FL – May 8, 2013 – FlightScope® disagrees with and will appeal the German District court’s ruling in favor of Trackman in their lawsuit claiming an infringement against FlightScope’s distributor, MIA Sports Technology Ltd., of TrackMan’s patent, EP 1 698 380, concerning a method for estimating the rotational velocity or spin frequency of a rotating sports ball in flight.
FlightScope® would like to reassure all of our clients that we are taking the situation very seriously and we are in the process of collecting all of the facts to appeal this ruling. We feel that the current TrackMan patent was wrongfully awarded since FlightScope® was first to introduce this technology to golf. We believe that the public and our clients need to know the current status and how this ruling will or will not impact them:
The court ruling is limited geographically to Germany and no other countries around the world are affected.
FlightScope® continues to launch innovative products in the marketplace – including Germany – and none of these are affected by the court ruling.
“We are planning on applying for nullification of the current TrackMan patent,” said Henri Johnson, President and Founder of EDH (FlightScope®).
FlightScope® would like to thank all of our customers for their continued loyal support. We will remain the leader in the field of 3D Doppler tracking radar technology and we will continue to provide forthcoming technological advancements to our products.
